Bowlers show fire for NW Dragons in first win of CSA T20 tournament

The North West Dragons kept their qualification hopes alive with a 43 run bonus point win against the SA u.19 team in their second match of the CSA Provincial T20 tournament on Saturday, 9 October.

A superb bowling performance was the catalyst for the win with Dragons’ new recruits, Eldred Hawken (3/18) and Senuran Muthusamy (3/16) tearing the SA u.19’s innings to shreds as they were bowled out for 99 in 17.2 overs.

The SA u.19 side restricted the Dragons to a total of 142/4 with a disciplined bowling effort. Shaylen Pillay, another newcomer to the Dragons, showcased why he was contracted with a fine unbeaten 60 (49) to anchor the innings.

The Dragons will now need to beat Eastern Storm in a do or die encounter for a playoff place tomorrow (Sunday, 10 October. The final match of the pool will start at 14:30.
