Tawana live to fight another day after away defeat

NWU Tawana FC head coach, Michael Seleka, stated that his side did not execute their game plan on the day. 

NWU Tawana’s winning streak came to an end on Thursday, 16 December, against Thaba Tshwane FC. with a 2-0 defeat in an away game in the ABC Motsepe League North West stream A.

Thaba Tshwane scored both goals in the first to take a 2-0 lead , which they never surrendered. NWU Tawana FC head coach, Michael Seleka, stated that his side did not execute their game plan on the day.

“The opposition pressed us from word go to force errors, their plan worked and they scored two goals in 20 minutes. We started the game with a 4-5-1 formation to try stop their winger to put crosses, it worked but they scored by corner kick and penalty,” mentioned Seleka.

A switch of tactics did not bring Tawana any success on the score sheet in the second half, but they at least played much improved football.

“After halftime we changed to 3-5-2 because we were already 2 goals down, we dominated the game created chances to score, but we never converted them. The boys did everything to equalize but it was not our day. I’m proud of the boys and the technical team with the second half and substitute we did make huge difference tactically but it was not our day,” emphasised Seleka.
