Potchefstroom has the honour of playing host to the inaugural ICC u.19 Women’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in January 2023.

Benoni will be the other host venue.

Potchefstroom has a superb reputation as a top cricket destination having hosted the final of the 2020 u.19 Cricket World Cup as well.

“Potchefstroom has one of the best facilities in the country. The town also has a good track record of hosting world-class sporting events. From the ICC U19 Men’s World Cup in 2020 and the recently concluded FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup. Logistically, Potch, as it is widely known provides an electric atmosphere that is required for events of this magnitude,” stated Sivuyile Mqingwana, U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Tournament Director.

“This is a special time for women’s cricket in South Africa, we are excited to be host of the
inaugural U19 Women’s T20 World Cup and look forward to the spotlight focusing on the
world’s best cricketers. We hope all the players taking part will enjoy their time on the big
stage and more young girls will pick up the bat and ball to play the game,” commented Mqingwana.
