Sprinters light up SA Track and Field champs in Potch

Simbine (CGA) showed his prowess on a hot morning with a 9.98 second run at the NWU McArthur stadium

The 2023 ASA Senior Track and Field Championships has gotten off to a blazing start in Potchefstroom this morning (Thursday, 30 Match) with men’s 100m favourite, Akani Simbine, running a sub 10 in the heats.

Simbine (CGA) showed his prowess on a hot morning with a 9.98 second run at the NWU McArthur stadium to get the championships off to an electrifying start.

ACNW’s sprinting sensation, Benjamin Richardson, also impressed winning his heat.

Women’s 100m favorite, Carina Horn (CGA) also her intentions for gold winning her heat in 11.29 seconds. Tamzin Thomas (ACNW) on 11.41 seconds and Rose Xeyi (ACNW) in 11.88 seconds also won their heats.

The final of both men’s and women’s 100m races will be a highlight and promises to light up Potch.
The women’s final is at 17:40 and the men’s final at 17:50.
