Die Wilge powers into fourth straight final

Die Wilge High School secures a spot in their fourth consecutive final after a tense semi-final win, aiming for a third straight title.

Die Wilge high School has made it to their fourth consecutive  finals.

“This is a remarkable achievement for our rugby program and our learners,” said Wikus Geyer, the school’s sport coordinator.

Die Wilge had a solid season in 2025, finishing third out of nine schools in the league standings.

“Our boys showed exceptional character and unity throughout the campaign. The highlight of the season came on Friday, 20 June 2025, when our team travelled to High School Roodepoort for the semi-final clash. In a tense and physical encounter, we emerged victorious with a 21–15 win, booking our place in both the Gauteng league final and the Noordvaal championships. The boys never gave up, worked as a cohesive unit, and displayed the resilience that defines champions.” he stated.

This semi-final win also secured the school’s qualification for the Noordvaal, where they proudly enter as defending champions, having won Division 5A titles in both 2023 and 2024.

“We believe in our boys. They have proven time and time again that they possess big match temperament, and we are confident that they will once again rise to the occasion in the final. The entire Die Wilge community stands behind them with pride,” Geyer said.
