Stabbing of cyclist among 27 serious incidents reported – Mapogo

A cyclist was stabbed in Palm Street in what was one of 27 serious incidents reported during March, according to Mapogo A Mathamaga Security in Rand West City.

Mapogo A Mathamaga released its latest crime report which revealed 27 incidents for March.

According to Mapogo A Mathamaga operational manager Danie Vermeulen, three suspects were arrested for crimes committed during this period as well.

“We received 30 691 actioned signals. Only 21 573 of those actioned signals were investigated by dispatched officers. There were 27 active incidents and three arrests made.”

Vermeulen added that the Easter weekend recorded the highest number of crime incidents.

Further, Vermeulen stated that 66,7% of the crime rates included residential clients while only 33,3% included commercial clients 85,2% of the active crime incidents occurring during the officers’ day shifts.

Vermeulen claimed that one of the arrests was made on March 18 after reaction officer Riaan Prinsloo apprehended a suspect that stabbed a man before attempting to steal the victim’s bicycle. This incident occurred on Palm Street.
