Meyerspark community Christmas market unites the community
The entrance fee to the market was a donation of non-perishable food for learners who come from disadvantaged families
Parents of the Meyerspark primary school and community members came together for the Meyerspark Community Christmas Market on Friday.
The Christmas market was the brainchild of NG Gemeente Meyerspark and Meyerspark Primary School.
Rikus Blom from the NG Kerk in Meyerspark and Cora Jackson from the Meyerspark primary school said the market aimed to bring the community together and get to know each other better.

Blom said the community members are getting farther and farther apart, and the market is aimed at getting the neighbours to know each other and stopping them from locking themselves inside their houses.
Blom said, “The market is also part of the community project and uplifting [for]the community.”
He said the entrance fee to the market was a donation of non-perishable food for learners who come from disadvantaged families.

Meyerspark Primary School has many families whose children come to school and don’t have food in the morning, and through to the afternoon, sometimes for days on end.
The non-perishable food will be donated to the families of these learners.
