POLOKWANE – The provincial secretary of the ANC in Limpopo, Reuben Madadzhe has this evening announced that the Peter Mokaba Regional Conference will commence tomorrow from 13:00.

This follows three consecutive postponements from the start of May, initially scheduled to take place at The Ranch Resort.

He said this during a media briefing held earlier at the Polokwane Council Chamber, which was convened on the 11th hour by spokesperson of the Regional Task Team, Adolph Rapetswa, in which convener, John Mpe, was not a part of.

“The 10th Regional Conference was unable to convene its business on the afore-mentioned dates because of outstanding disputes which were processed internally within the structures of the ANC,” Madadzhe said after a Provincial Disputes Resolution Committee delayed in its finalisation, affecting the set date. Similarly, at a national level when some disputes were escalated due to branches being unhappy with outcomes from the province.

ANC PEC members in Limpopo, Basikopo Makamu and Reuben Madadzhe with ANC Peter Mokaba RTT coordinator, Masilo Paya.

The disputes are in relation to alleged violations of democratic processes in the nomination of branch delegates, including suspicion that faces of branch-nominated conference delegates were different from those registered, among other questionable concerns.

However, Madadzhe said he had been advised by the NDRC that all outstanding appeals would be finalised by noon tomorrow.

“The pre-registration relating to the conference is an advanced stage, and it is anticipated that it will be complete by tonight, May 20 and the collection of the tags will take place on May 21 between 09:00 and 11:00,” he concluded.
