PCS learners progress to provincial round of spelling bee
Learners were tasked to spell words in indigenous languages found in the province and English and they executed the task with ease.
POLOKWANE – Six learners from Pietersburg Comprehensive School will represent their school at the Department of Education’s provincial spelling bee competition set for October.
Hlayiseko Sithole, Mary Ndlopfu, Xiluva Mashele, Junior Maswangwi, Buhle Rikhotso and Mabala Mulangateri defeated their peers from other schools in the city at the Capricorn district leg of the competition held at Nirvana Primary School on August 30.
They were tasked to spell words in indigenous languages found in the province and English, and they executed the task with ease.

They will now test their spelling skills and abilities against top learners from various schools in the Vhembe, Sekhukhune, Mopani and Waterberg districts.
Mabala Mulangateri who won the Xitsonga section said he was happy to have finally moved on to the provincial stage of the competition.
“We have been working hard as a group towards the Capricorn competition. We still have a lot of work to do because we will be up against good learners from schools from other districts, and we want to win again.”
