People could be excused for looking twice and staring on Wednesday night in the southern regions if the city.
The Pietersburg Athletics Club held their annual closing event, which is usually in the form of either a fun run for charity or a pub run. This year it was decided to do a pub run and athletes, club members and non-members, had a blast running together, according to Corrie Calitz, Chairperson of the club.
The run started off at the athletics club at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium to the Police Club, where the first “water point” was.
All runners had a quick drink and carried on to the Roadrunners’ water point and from there to the golf course, where they ran across the course and back.
The atlethes then went to the 19th hole for liquid refreshments before returning to the athletics club. The route is between 4 and 5 km long.
All the athletes were dressed up in funny attire that they would ordinarily not be seen dead in, from ‘Me Tarzan Zulu, you Jane’, African leopard spot outfits, to funky punk headgear, or wearing shorts and a blazer or a ballet tutu.
A Native American was spotted and evening wear with bow tie was de rigueur.
