Following their massive 4-1 victory over SuperSport United Football Club at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium last Saturday, Polokwane City Football Club will be hoping to produce another remarkable performance when they play Bidvest Wits on their home ground in Johannesburg tomorrow (Friday).
City are currently on the 13th position of the Premier Soccer League and in desperate need of points.
Since the beginning the season they have only amassed 15 points from 14 matches , winning four, drawing three and losing seven.
Club Spokesperson, Tumelo Makgoara said they aware of their precarious position on the league and will ensure that they put a good performance in all the matches. “We are almost half way through the season and we have to perform week in and week out. It is tough at the bottom teams are fighting hard at the bottom of the league and we also have to do the same,” Makgoara said.
He also mentioned that their match against Wits won’t be easy considering their opponents’ form and position in the league. “They are one of the strongest title contenders and they have been doing well lately but we are up for the challenge,” Makgoara said.
Wits lies third in the league with 29 points and a victory over City will see them moving on top of the log with 32 points.
Makgoara thanked the fans who came en masse to witness their team’s massive victory against Super Sport last Saturday. “We want to thank them for their continued support. They have been there for us and we are happy to have them at all the games and we are saying they must continue to rally behind the team,” Makgoara said.
