Vodacom Blue Bulls fans were eager to start the evening and mingle with some of the big names in the game of rugby during the gala dinner hosted at Protea Hotel Ranch Resort on Friday evening.
The programme was kept short with only a few speeches in order to create more valuable time around the table with players from the Blue Bulls as well as Emirates Lions.
The teams each presented acting Executive Mayor Lois Hardy with a signed rugby jersey as token of appreciation and in celebrating the fifth year in which Polokwane acts as host city to one of the warm-up matches.
Blue Bulls Rugby Union President Gert Wessels said the team looks forward to the warm-up match annually hosted in Polokwane. “The Blue Bulls are also an international brand and as a city you should be proud of the partnership between the Polokwane Municipality and Blue Bulls. This year we also though it good to donate R100 000 to the Mayor’s bursary fund as part of our social responsibility,” Wessels said.
“We have noticed since the first match that residents of the city need more. Sport has brought people of all walks of live together and we are hoping to continue the successful partnership with the Bulls. Thank you for the efforts by the players and supporters to make the event an annual success,” Hardy said.
