Local squash player Shamier Cassim won the men’s category of the annual Polokwane Squash Championships to be crowned champion recently.
He defeated Franco Welman 3-2 in the finals played at the Polokwane Squash Courts.
The event was organised by the Polokwane Squash Club and one of the organisers, Robby Villar said it catered for 32 players and ran from 16 to 28 October.
He commented that the competition had been of a high standard.
The winners and runners-up received cash prizes and all participants got goodie bags.
Villar thanked everyone who made the tournament a success and the players for displaying their best squash skills on the court.
