Following their goalless draw against relegation threatened Amazulu Football Club at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium last Saturday, Polokwane City Football Club has shifted its focus to Ajax Cape Town whom they will meet at the same venue on Sunday.
Ajax beat City 2-0 at Cape Town Stadium in the first round of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) in September last year.
With the new coach and players at Ajax, it remains to be seen if City will be able to repeat the same feat.
Both teams come into the match from stalemates secured over the weekend but Ajax will be more determined to win the duel and move out of the relegation zone.
The Cape Town based gallery is currently on the 15th position of the League with 17 points and a victory against City will see them moving to the 14th position.
Spokesperson for Polokwane City Football Club, Vusi Ntimane said they have prepared well for the match and they are looking forward to their second home victory of the season. “The last time we won a match at home was against Sundowns in the beginning of last month and that is not good at all. We are not in a good position in the League to be honest. We drew three matches and lost one in the last four encounters and it is time we win a match at home and that will be against Ajax. They beat us in the League but we eliminated them in the Telkom Knockout Competition, we are expecting a tough match but we will emerge victorious,” Ntimane said.
He also added they could have won their match against Amazulu but luck was not on their side. “We could have won the match by two goals but we failed to convert our chances. However, that is football for you, sometime you’re lucky sometimes you’re not,” stressed Ntimane.
