The Office of the Premier will yet again use the Limpopo Premier Bursary Trust Fund Golf Day and prize giving networking dinner at Euphoria Golf Estate on 4 July to raise funds towards academically needy and deserving students.
The event first took place in 2016 and has since become an annual fund raising opportunity for higher education bursaries in the province. It was learnt that the patron of the Trust, Premier Stan Mathabatha view the contribution of the bursary fund as critical to the youth – consequently impacting positively on their future. He reportedly said over the years the Trust assisted numerous indigent students and some of those assisted are currently employed in industrial and commercial sectors across the country.
“We are inspired by continued support to this initiative and we are making a clarion call to other potential sponsors, individual players and society to make this bursary scheme a beacon of hope to our future generation,” Mathabatha pleaded.
According to the Trust trustee Steve Aphane, the bursary fund does not prescribe the field of study but rather students are only required to be admitted to their chosen fields of study either on a full-time basis or distance learning at any institution of higher learning in the country. The Trust has to date managed to provide financial assistance to 236 students in various fields of study and desires to continue providing full financial assistance to cover tuition and registration fees, accommodation, meals and books in its quest to break the cycle of unemployment and poverty, Aphane stated.
He further said the beneficiaries of Limpopo Premier Bursary Trust Fund over the years studied in various fields including and not limited to Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurship, Accounting and Financial Management, Law, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Agriculture and Engineering among others.
