Reese selected for SA u/16 squash team
Reese Bain, a gr. 9 learner at Stanford Lake College (SLC), has been selected to form part on the national u/16 squash team to represent South Africa in Malaysia in May and June.
POLOKWANE – Reese Bain, a gr. 9 learner at Stanford Lake College (SLC), has been selected to form part on the national u/16 squash team to represent South Africa in Malaysia in May and June.
Reese was handpicked with other players during the South African Junior Closed Championship that was held in Johannesburg recently.
The South African schools u/16 squash team will be competing with other countries during the Penang International Junior Squash Championships.
Rona McGaffin, SLC marketer, said this represents the culmination of much hard work and many sacrifices over the past several months.
She added that the school was very proud of Reese and wished her all the best in her career.
Reese’s mother, Samantha, said she was proud of her daughter and saw a bright future ahead of her in the sport of squash.
“Hard work, passion and dedication paid well and she has started with preparations for the big tournament to be on top of her game. I believe in her and I am certain that she will do her best and represent the country well in Malaysia,” added Samantha.
Reese represented the country in various sporting codes in international meetings several times and has been doing exceptionally well.
Her dream is to make it to the South African top 10 squash players and compete in big squash leagues with top players around the world.
Reese started playing squash when she was 10 years old and she has been doing her level best to win most of the tournaments.
