No action in City of Stars for Blue Bulls

For the first time in seven years the Vodacom Blue Bulls will not play their Super Rugby warm-up match in the city.

POLOKWANE – The team will play their warm-up match against the Xerox Golden Lions in Zimbabwe at the Harare Stadium.

However, this is only a temporary arrangement and the team will return to the city for their warm-up matches soon.

Vodacom Blue Bulls Team Manager, Tim Dlulane, said the reason behind the decision was to help Zimbabwe with a much-needed economical boost. “Three other teams will travel to Zimbabwe alongside the Bulls and we thought it was an ideal opportunity to give our fans in Zimbabwe the opportunity to see their players in action on their doorstep,” Dlulane explained.

This year marks the first year since 2009 that the Vodacom Blue Bulls will not play a warm-up game in the city. Dlulane, however, assured the city’s dedicated fans that the team will return to the City of Stars soon.

The u/20 Limpopo Blue Bulls will continue to play in Polokwane and are practicing for the upcoming Absa Currie Cup B-league set to start on 10 June.
