Noordelikes ready for crunch matches against Potties

All three teams of both Noordelikes Rugby Club and Potgietersrus Rugby Club will be in action.

POLOKWANE – Highly-contested Boet Fick league games will be played on the Hoërskool Piet Potgieter’s rugby fields this Saturday.

Noordelikes Rugby Club is set to make the short travel to Mokopane, to face Potgietersrus Rugby Club. The first match is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 when both club’s third teams clash, while the main game is set to start at 18:00.

Review spoke to Noordelikes second team coach, Lieb Coetzer, who said their 33-15 victory against Mussina Rugby Club has boosted morale ahead of their match this weekend.

Team captain Lufuno Ramayono, as well as Kevin Gelede, Tevele Spoedvark and Tyrque Ferris were among the try scorers, while promising flyhalf, Mario Nel, slotted four penalties on the day.

Coetzer said they needed to redeem themselves following a 28-27 defeat at the hands of Letaba Rugby Club the week prior.

“We lost our opening match of the league against Letaba and that did not sit well with us. It was a marginal game which we lost by one point. Our aim is to do well in the league. We have been working on the fitness levels of the players, as some players are still rusty due to the long layoff,” he added.

Coetzer described their match against Potgietersrus as one of their difficult encounters. “They are a difficult team. We have been struggling to get maximum points against them in the past years, but we hope to get one over them on Saturday. We have a good team, with players who are eager to play and itching to win all their matches. I think we will come back home with good results,” he concluded.
