Warriors With A Purpose (WWAP) is grieving the loss of Xoliswa Julia Moabelo, known simply as Julia, whose warmth, courage and gentle spirit touched everyone in the cancer support community.

Julia passed away on February 16, after a brave battle with brain cancer. Members remember her as a tireless advocate for fellow patients, a friend who always put others first, and a presence that inspired strength and hope.

“Her strength, compassion, and gentle spirit touched everyone around her,” said WWAP founder and breast cancer survivor Renee Singh.

“Her name will be spoken with softness, and her presence will be remembered with gratitude. Julia’s spirit will remain part of WWAP, not in noise, but in the way people show up for one another because she once did.”

For three years, Julia was an active member of WWAP, helping raise awareness about cancer and supporting those navigating the challenges of treatment. Her voice mattered, her kindness endured, and her legacy continues through the group’s ongoing work.

The WWAP team – including a radiation therapist in South Africa and a breast cancer counsellor in Kenya – remains committed to carrying forward the values Julia embodied: compassion, collaboration, patient-centred care, and integrity.

Julia was laid to rest on February 21 in Kagiso.
