Ruimsig parkrun celebrates 250th milestone

The next event is just around the corner and everyone is invited to join.

On Saturday, the community came together to celebrate Ruimsig parkrun’s major achievement – its 250th event. To help make the event a success, 276 runners, walkers, and joggers participated on the day.

Ethan Botha claimed first place with an impressive time of 18:07, followed closely by Thuso Motsaapheko at 19:29 and Lufuno Mokgithu at 19:37. Joshua Madden and Caleb Smith rounded out the top five with times of 20:17 and 21:37, respectively. One other achievement was from Karin van Greuning, who celebrated her 100th milestone.

Ruimsig parkrun is a free, 5km event that takes place every Saturday. Since its establishment, the parkrun has become a popular place for people who are into fitness and healthy living and where the community meets to achieve their fitness goals. The event organisers thanked the volunteers for giving their time and energy to come and be part of the celebration.

As the morning came to a close and volunteers stood by the end of the finish line, one could tell by the smiles from the volunteers that they had fun, whether they sprinted to the finish or took a stroll.
