Panorama FC U15 slams JVW in semi-final encounter

Panorama FC secure a spot in the U15 Gauteng Development League finals.

Panorama FC secured a 3–0 victory over familiar rivals JVW FC (from Bedfordview), booking their place in the Gauteng Development League final this Saturday, February 28.

From the first whistle, Panorama displayed tactical prowess. Coach Mechaeal Sprangaan was thrilled as her team executed a seamless switch of play from the left to the right flank within just four passes in the opening three minutes, signalling a fast and focused start.

According to Panorama technical coach, Greg Green, the game was tightly contested in the opening 15 minutes, both teams of players taking time to settle. The high pressure of the Panorama attacking players was rewarded. Ammani Turton put the JVW full back under pressure, who then passed back to the goalkeeper. Pholoso Thetswe immediately closed the goalkeeper down and forced the error, which allowed Pholoso to put the ball into the JVW net.

“A promising attack in the JVW penalty area, Amaani Turton was fouled and earned a penalty. Mechaele Mokoena converted from the spot, extending Panorama’s led to 2–0,” Green said.

JVW sought a comeback, but Kendra Meyer, Panorama’s goalkeeper, stood resolute, even throwing herself in the way of danger to maintain a clean sheet. JVW’s hopes were further dashed when a goal from an indirect free kick was correctly disallowed by the referee.

The second half featured chances at both ends, but Panorama struck again. A precise cross into the far side of the JVW 18-yard box found Athina Fredericks, who controlled and finished confidently with her left foot, sealing the victory.
