Rolex gang members found guilty

JOBURG - Members of the notorious Rolex gang which terrorised the Sandton and Rosebank suburbs in 2014 have been found guilty on nine charges.

According to IOL News, the charges include robbery with aggravated circumstances,  murder and attempted murder.

Betha Mphikeleni, Sipho Mabundla and George Mulaudzi were suspected of committing 12 robberies around the Sandton and Rosebank areas, however on 6 April 2016 Judge Nomonde Mngqibisa found the trio guilty of nine armed robberies and the murder of their accomplice.

Mphikeleni, Mabundla and Mulaudzi were arrested on 22 April 2014 after a high speed car chase and shootout with police.

The men were also found guilty on two charges of malicious damage to property, two counts of unlawful possession of firearms and one of unlawful possession of ammunition.

Sentencing will begin on July 25.
