SEDIBENG – A multidisciplinary tactical crime intelligence operation has resulted in the arrests of three suspects in Vanderbijlpark and Vereeniging, respectively, for dealing in drugs.

On July 20 and 21, Sedibeng District Crime Intelligence, working with Sedibeng K-9, Sedibeng Flying Squad, VCA Task Force, Gauteng SLEU, Sedibeng Infrastructure and Gauteng Highway Patrol, activated a tactical ad hoc operation across the Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark policing precincts.

Police spokesperson Constable Mampho Mahlomola confirms that the first suspect was arrested in Vanderbijlpark following a targeted search of a residence.

At the residence, police seized 100.26 grams of Cocaine, 128.6 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine and 16.03 grams of Rock, with an estimated value of R80 000.

In Vereeniging, two individuals were arrested after police raided two separate residences. One suspect was found in possession of 170 zip locks of Crystal Methamphetamine and 2kg of Crystal Meth, with a combined estimated value of R200 000. The third suspect was arrested for dealing in narcotics, where 50 grams of Khat and 80 grams of Rock, with an estimated value of R10 000, were seized.

Mahlomola says the police remain committed to eradicating illicit activities and restoring law and order within communities, adding that those arrested will soon appear in court.

The Sedibeng District Commissioner, Major General Nkhensani Mukwevho, has applauded the members for following up on the information received and ensuring that criminality is curbed. General Mukwevho further stated that members of the public are hereby warned that any criminal conduct will result in decisive legal consequences.
