ANC Sedibeng assesses resolution of Regional Conference
"The Regional Chairperson is part of the collective, and it is the collective's decision to reconfigure and strengthen government in Sedibeng.”
SEDIBENG.- The ANC in Sedibeng recently held its Regional Executive Council (REC) Lekgotla to, among others, assess the resolutions of the 16th Regional Conference, which was held last November.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Mphikeleli Msibi, ANC Sedibeng Regional Spokesperson, said that several key priorities were identified, including the state of our roads, the low level of refuse collection within Emfuleni Municipality, and the sewer challenges, albeit with noticeable improvement on the latter.

Msibi said that the incoming REC, led by Mlungisi Hlongwane, has communicated a clear message to all municipalities, particularly Emfuleni, that the time for business as usual is over, and that the incoming budget adjustment should prioritise these key issues, including waste collection.
Msibi further said that the REC has been informed by national and provincial structures about the intention of certain individuals who have filed papers disputing the 16th Regional Conference.
“The REC has noted this intention and has already responded to the requests made by the disputants. Suffice it to say that we are not going to be derailed from a mandate given by a majority of branches who participated in the 16th Regional Conference to the REC. We will continue rebuilding structures of the ANC across the region and unifying our members behind the banner of the ANC towards attaining the majority during the 2026 Local Government Elections (LGE).”
The regional executive committee, through its regional working committee, Msibi added, has done a detailed assessment across all municipalities and has submitted a comprehensive report to the Gauteng ANC Provincial Task Team officials for final guidance on the reconfiguration and/or strengthening of municipalities across the region.
He adds that once the feedback from the officials is received, the ANC will communicate its decision accordingly, starting with all its structures in the region through a Regional General Council (RGC) and followed by residents.
“The ANC has started establishing its election structures across the region, and the detailed POA will roll out in the next few weeks. Save to say key among our POA are issues that are related to key service delivery priorities as mentioned above. The ANC is not an organisation of individual intention. The Regional Chairperson is part of the collective, and it is the collective’s decision to reconfigure and strengthen government in Sedibeng.”
