DA helps zone 7 community with burst pipe

“While Emfuleni employed contractors as service provider to fix such burst pipes, these contractors never bothered to fix these issues after Emfuleni spent over R57 Million rand to combat the water leak crisis that left homes without water."

SEBOKENG. – Following a recent community meeting the Democratic Alliance (DA) assisted the community of ward 42 Zone 7 Ext 1.

The residents were suffering after a water pipe burst causing low pressure to many houses in the area and leaving some houses with dry taps.

The collapsed or broken pipe was along the zone 7 stadium.

The DA promised in a public meeting that they would get Emfuleni and its water entity, Metsi-a-Lekoa to resolve the issue that has been going on since 2023.

“While Emfuleni employed contractors as service provider to fix such burst pipes, these contractors never bothered to fix these issues after Emfuleni spent over R57 Million rand to combat the water leak crisis that left homes without water. Emfuleni has lost about R880 million due to unfixed water leaks and the zone 7 burst pipe has caused the municipality to lose millions of water litres,” said Kingsol Chabalala, DA mayoral candidate.

The DA reported the matter to Metsi-a-Lekoa and Emfuleni and emphasised the importance of fixing the burst pipe.

The burst pipe was recently fixed.

“You have delivered on what you promised, thanks very much. I salute you,” a resident said, appreciatively.
