Early morning feeding run gets a boost

ANIMAL welfare organisation’s 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue’s Nicky Koekemoer now has help on her early morning, rural feeding run in Umkomaas and surrounds.

“After going out on the early morning feeds on my own during the week, I now have the pleasure of Nic Cilliers company every morning. Nic has a passion for animals, like we all at 4 Paws have, and he decided it was time to stand up and be counted and not just hope that someone else will do the job,” said Nicky.

Nic joined up in December 2014 and has been going out with Nicky at 5am to feed 110 dogs and 30 cats every day. He is well known in the Scottburgh cycling community having run his own bicycle shop for years.

“It has taken him some time to get to know all the dogs and cats as there are so many, but he has pushed through and knows them by name. It has been amazing to see the love he showers on them and they have just blossomed. He has a very special friend, Tammy whom he adores and she returns the love tenfold. Nic has to pick her up every morning and she is turning into a large girl who is very affectionate, it’s a wonderful sight to behold. These dogs are so starved for attention that when they get it, they lap up every moment.”
