Four armed men held up a Lovu Township home owner in the early hours of Friday, 17 February.
“It is alleged the home owner awoke at about 1am and went outside to smoke,” said Amanzimtoti SAPS communication officer, Captain Charlene van der Spuy.
“He noticed an unknown man hanging around inside his yard, but decided to go back inside. After a while he heard a noise outside and checked through his window, but did not see anything.
He was on his way back to the bedroom when he heard the sound of a gun being cocked behind him.”
Four men had entered his house, armed with firearms.
They threatened him and told him to lie down and dragged him to the bedroom, where both he and his wife were tied up with rope and locked in the room.
The men got away with a Samsung flat screen TV, car keys, DSTV decoder and ID books, valued at about R20,000.
A case of house robbery is being investigated by Amanzimtoti detectives.
