5 reasons to join Amanzimtoti Community Police sub-forums, neighbourhood watches

Neighbourhood watches are not only the eyes and ears of the community, they also help to prevent and tackle crime.

The Amanzimtoti Community Police Forum (CPF) urges residents to join patrol teams from its sub-forums and neighbourhood watch (NHW) groups that serve as the eyes and ears of law enforcement in the community.

According to a statement by the Toti CPF, fighting crime, visible policing and community policing go hand in hand. “We are thankful to our community members who volunteer to be part of the government-mandated structures such as the CPF, CPF sub-forums and neighbourhood watch groups that enable private citizens to work with law enforcement to this end,” it read.

Five reasons to join your local community police sub-forum or neighbourhood watch:
  • Criminals: They tend to avoid areas with a strong CPF, NHW and security presence.
  • Safety: It is an opportunity to take control of your safety. Volunteer to be a patroller.
  • Communication: Receive neighbourhood-specific alerts, as well as relevant and verified information.
  • Support: In times of crisis and uncertainty, there is a network of support.
  • Community: Experience a stronger connection with your neighbours and be supported in times of need.
