Amanzimtoti Rotary Club’s soup drive feeds the needy

The community is encouraged to donate dry soup ingredients that will be bottled for those in need.

THE Rotary Club of Amanzimtoti appeals to the community for donations of dry soup ingredients for its Jar of Hope club project this Mandela Month.

The project’s coordinator, Neil McDonald, said the ingredients will be placed in glass jars and distributed to the needy and less privileged in their area of service.

“Each jar can feed four people as it can be used as soup or stew. They can also add a piece of meat and/or any fresh vegetables that they like. This will put a nice hot meal on the family table,” he said.

Each jar contains half a cup of rice, half a cup of soup mix, half a cup of lentils, one unwrapped stock cube and one packet of soup powder.

“There are still wonderful, caring people and this is a project that you can support and get involved with,” added McDonald.
