Galleria Mall hosts free craft market for local entrepreneurs

The craft market offers a variety of handmade products such as African print fashion, custom beaded candles, leather bags, and much more.

THE Galleria Mall in Amanzimtoti is hosting a craft market with the focus on promoting local businesses and creative talent. Running until December 31, this market is a collaboration between eThekwini Municipality and Galleria Mall, providing free retail space to 10 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the arts and crafts sector.

This initiative is part of a larger “support and buy local” campaign aimed at bolstering local entrepreneurship. The Galleria Craft Market, located near The Hub, offers a range of handmade products including African print fashion, woven baskets, custom beaded candles, leather bags and wellness items. The market runs every day, with extended hours from December 13 to 22.

This project is part of eThekwini Municipality’s public-private partnerships to support small businesses. The municipality also offers ongoing business training, marketing, and access to larger markets, both domestic and international. For residents, shopping here means supporting local artisans and helping create jobs within Durban’s creative economic sector.

The 10 businesses trading at the Galleria Craft Market were selected from eThekwini’s arts and craft database, which includes around 200 SMMEs that receive ongoing business support.
