Sports Centre looks to tidy up with new plastic bins
With its steel bin bottoms rusting over time and waste spilling out, Amanzimtoti Sports Centre appeals for donations of 210-litre plastic drums.
IN A bid to address the spread of litter, the Amanzimtoti Sports Centre is requesting assistance from companies or individuals who may be able to assist by donating 210-litre plastic drums.
Committee member, Barry Walker, explained that the sports field’s steel drums, originally installed by the Municipality, have rusted at the bottom over time, causing litter to spill out.

“The rubbish gets blown into the river and eventually onto the beaches. Unfortunately, the Municipality is unable to replace them at this stage and we have to take matters into our own hands. We believe that plastic drums would be a more durable solution and would greatly help in keeping our environment clean. Your support will be greatly appreciated in helping us maintain a cleaner, greener Amanzimtoti,” said Walker.
So far, five plastic drums have been donated. If you can assist, send a WhatsApp message to 083 459 8253.
