Municipal employee killed on duty in Isipingo

While the motive for the shooting is unknown, the victim was active in Isipingo politics, as well as in the anti-illegal immigrant March and March movement.

AN eThekwini Municipality employee was gunned down in broad daylight in Isipingo while he was on duty on July 3.

When the police were called to the scene at the corner of Kajee and Hillview roads, they found Musa Gasa, 38, lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to eyewitnesses, three men approached Gasa as he cleaned the road with his colleagues and shot him in cold blood before fleeing. None of Gasa’s colleagues was harmed during the ordeal.

Isipingo police station spokesperson Constable Donald Naidoo said the matter is under investigation.

“The motive for the brutal shooting has not been determined,” said Naidoo.

Gasa was active in Isipingo politics, as well as in the current anti-illegal immigrant March and March movement.

At the time of publishing no arrests had been made.
