Youth soccer academy appeals for assistance

Elias Dlamini says he started the academy to help get the youth off the streets.

ELIAS Dlamini from Umgababa wishes that more youth engage in sport instead of loitering, as it sometimes leads them down the wrong path in life. This is why he decided to start a soccer academy where young people can learn soccer skills and keep off the streets.

“Most of the wrong things that are done by the youth these days is because they have a lot of time on their hands, which leads them to experiment with bad things. I wanted to be part of inspiring and empowering our youth so I started the Target Academy FC,” said Dlamini, who coaches the players with the help of two other volunteer coaches.

He started the academy at the beginning of 2022, and he has been funding him out of his pocket. The players are divided into U17, U15, U13, and U11. He is appealing to anyone who can donate things that are needed by the team, including balls, jerseys, bibs, shoes and markers.

“At the moment, the players share the jerseys that I bought, and most of them can’t afford playing shoes,” said Dlamini.

Anyone who wants to make a donation, can call Dlamini on 083 591 9695 or Senzo Mchunu on 073 793 1915.
