Learners at Mnini Memorial Primary and Magcino Primary schools were taught the importance of obeying the rules of the road and road signs. The campaign later shifted to Umbumbulu, where learners at Tobi Primary and Phuphuma Primary school were also taught what to do to stay safe on the road.
In a statement, eThekwini said on average, four learners are killed on the roads in South Africa daily.

“To turn the tide against road fatalities and reduce road accidents among learners, the Road Accident Fund, in partnership with eThekwini Transport Authority, officially opened a Junior Traffic Training Centre (JTTC) at Entuthukweni Primary School on October 16. A JTTC is a physical representation of road setups, especially intersections and road signs, within a safe school environment. This initiative aims to reduce the high rate of road accidents involving children near schools,” it said.
