Van Wyk eagerly eyes the magic 300 tally

Leading the bunch this time is relative youngster Morne vanWyk

THESE have been two relatively quiet weeks at Dolphin Bowl tenpin bowling, following the recent high levels of activity.

The centre has reverted to oil pattern 16 which is far more ‘bowler friendly’ and has encouraged some of the old faithful to start showing their stuff, with high scores being achieved throughout all the leagues.

Leading the bunch this time is relative youngster Morne vanWyk, who is only seen on the lanes on a Thursday evening. He is suddenly coming to light with a 289 game, one strike away from the magical 300.

Supporting players in the men’s division were Andrew Cyster with 278, Ricky O’Hare 258, Spike Knowles with 236 and 238, Stephan Sleigh 238 and 236, Len Elbourne with 256 and 225, Jivi Sewcharan with 233 and Zain Woodroffe with 227.

Spike was also to be congratulated on his four game series of 902, made up of games of 238, 225, 205 and 234.

On the women’s side, two of the masters women came to light with Lorraine Brazier achieving a 235 and Julie Foley 222.

Members are urged to watch the notice board carefully as the final season-ending tournaments will be coming thick and fast over the next month or so.

The masters (plus 50) team is the next to compete in their national tournament in Johannesburg in October. The club wishes them well in their preparation for this and good luck and good bowling for the tournament.
