Tough tussle in women’s drawn fours bowls
The first round of the men’s open singles also produced some ding-dong battles.

WELL done to all Toti Bowling Club’s novices who played on Saturday and to Lee Jordan who got through to the second round where she lost in a very close game.
Tokkie de Kock plays her second round on Saturday, 25 January, and the club wishes her good bowling.
In a really exciting preliminary round of the women’s drawn fours at the club, Liz Morgan-Davies’ team went toe-to-toe with the well matched team of Robyn Hutton. Liz, Maureen Crawford, Nicky Stirzaker and Linda McGregor won an action packed game against Robyn Hutton, Nita Meumann, Adrienne Robbins and Margaret van Belkum, which was worthy of a final.
Each player from the lead to the skip matched each other bowl for bowl and it was an exciting game to watch. Peels on the 20th end, it was Nicky’s bowl which clinched the win in a game that had the spectators on edge to the bitter end – not even the rain could chase them away.
Well done girls, a great game.

The reminders this week are for the women’s and men’s mutton on Sunday, 26 January. Men’s teams must check whether they have a game as rinks are limited. The men’s inter-club league starts on Saturday, 1 March so enter names early so that the selectors can organise the teams.
