Talla, Lofty and Colin 2014 champs at ABC
Birthday greetings go this week to Gayle Windrim, Jane Coetzee and Duncan Wright.
TWO club competitions were finalised last week at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club.
Talla Stephens-Viviers emerged as the new 2014 novice champion after winning all her games in the women’s novice round-robin competition.
Lofty van Tonder and Colin Coetzee defeated Neil Oberholzer and Peter Shepard to become the new men’s drawn pairs champs. Well done to all three players on a great performance.
Lofty van Tonder also won his quarter-final game in the men’s senior singles against Boet Els, while Ray Robinson defeated Adie Fuller in a semi-final of the same competition. Val de Kok defeated Denise Bingham in a women’s senior singles semi-final, while Nola Corrigall and Leonie Mills lost their third round game of the women’s nominated pairs to Delysia Mitchley and Tokkie de Kock. Tokkie also won her novice game against Margaret van Belkum, and in a second round game in handicap singles, Doreen Salmond lost to Lyn Joubert.
In men’s scroungers, which is played on the first Friday of every month, Doug Joubert, Neville Doman and Peter Labuschagne were first, second and third respectively. Plate A was won by Dave Kemp, and Ian Crouch won plate B.
At TGIF Doug Joubert drew the lucky number in the key game, but as his key didn’t fit, the prize rolls over to next week. Louis Swanepoel’s number was drawn in the attendance draw, but as he was absent, that prize also rolls over to next week. Talla Stephens-Viviers was however present to collect her prize from the 100 board draw.
As usual, check the notice board for cardings. Birthday greetings go this week to Gayle Windrim, Jane Coetzee and Duncan Wright. Good bowling to all members playing in the Scottburgh tournament, and best wishes to any who are not in the best of health.
