She will study at Florida International University.

HAVING written her last matric examination on Tuesday, 25 November, Kingsway High School pupil and rising swim star, Kyna Pereira is preparing for the next chapter in her life.

She has been awarded a swimming scholarship to an American university.

“I applied for a scholarship at Florida International University at the beginning of the year and a few days ago I got the good news that I had been accepted,” said a delighted Kyna. She will study a four-year psychology degree.

Now with the exams behind her, she is concentrating her efforts on getting to the US. “My goal is settle in, in the new year. It’s a big achievement, as I always wanted to get into a US university because of my swimming.”

Regarding her swimming career, Kyna intends to train as hard as she can and perform the best she can. “I am not putting any pressure on myself for anything, including making the 2016 Olympics team.”

As her family emigrated to Australia in early November, she is currently living with friends and family, before her big move.
