AHS on a good wicket
AHS batted first and amassed 104 all out, with captain Reece Mason making a stylish 27 and Matthew Grove an aggressive 22 off eight balls.
AMANZIMTOTI High School’s (AHS) 1st cricket team is having a very good season.
On Thursday, 26 February, they hosted Port Shepstone’s 1st cricket team for a 20/20 fixture at home.
Port Shepstone made 67 for six in their allotted 20 overs. AHS passed Port Shepstone’s score in the ninth over with only two wickets down. Slater Rudling making an aggressive 29 not out off 17 balls. AHS won by eight wickets. This is the first time in 19 years that AHS’s 1st cricket team has beaten Port Shepstone.
Then, on Saturday, 28 February, the 1st team played local rivals Kingsway High School at Kingsway in a rain-affected 45 over match. AHS batted first and amassed 104 all out, with captain Reece Mason making a stylish 27 and Matthew Grove an aggressive 22 off eight balls. Kingsway were then bowled out for 35, with Sheldon taking five for 16, including his second hat-trick of the season. AHS’s 1st team won by 69 runs.
