THE countdown has begun for the Umnini 15km Freedom Run in Umgababa on May 4.

The race will start at 07:00 at Umgababa Resort and finish at Magabheni sports ground. The registration fee is R150 for minors aged between 14 and 17, and R250 for adults. The race organisers, Nkosinathi Msomi, Samukelisiwe Gumede, and Simphiwe Lushozi, said transport will be available from various hubs around Umgababa to the starting point, and from the finishing point to the starting point after the race. Security will be available for those leaving their cars at the starting point.

Registrations and collection of numbers and T-shirts will be done at Unit 3 in Thusong at Umgababa, where entrants can register and pay cash or make bank deposits up until May 3.

The winner will walk away with R5000. The second person to cross the line will win R2500, and R1500 will be awarded for third place. Cash prizes will be given up to the 10th position.
