The Grade Five Warner Beach Preparatory School learner has been practising karate since 2022. She is a junior purple belt and in addition to achieving her KZN colours four times, she also achieved her South African colours twice.

Off the back of her two bronze medals, she now qualifies to participate in the SA JKA Championships at Ellis Park, Johannesburg from May 16-17.

Her proud mother, Tamara Strydom, is a single mum who receives minimum financial assistance. She is unable to afford the expenses involved in getting her daughter to Johannesburg to compete.

Tamara said that with mere weeks before the competition, she hopes to raise enough funds to cover competition entry fees, her kit, travel expenses, accommodation and meals.

The family is hosting a raffle with two prizes, including an Elizabeth Arden hamper valued at R1 200, donated by Edgars Galleria, and a dozen cupcakes generously donated by Cake My Day by Jax.
