IT was a busy weekend for Rescue Care paramedics, as four accidents left 27 people injured in South Durban.
On Friday, 8 May on the M4 south near Jacobs, a car burst into flames after five cars crashed into each other. Four people were injured during the crash, which happened at about 6pm. Traffic was affected as paramedics stabilised the injured, who were taken to hospital for further care.
The following night, Saturday, 9 May, at a about 7pm, 18 people were injured, two seriously, on the M4 near the near the Solomon Mahlangu Drive off-ramp. Rescue Care paramedics attended to the injured, following a crash between two taxis in the southbound taxi lane, when a bus and two taxis crashed in the northbound taxi lane.
Due to the number of injuries, more ambulances were called in to help transport the injured to hospital.
In a fourth accident, on Sunday, 10 May at about 6am, five people were injured in Jacobs.
Two cars crashed into one another at the intersection of Quality Street and Voortrekker Road, sending one of the vehicles careening into a pedestrian, before smashing into a stationary truck on the side of the road.
The four occupants of the cars were injured, one them seriously along with the pedestrian. Again more ambulances were called in to stabilise the injured, who were transported to hospital by Rescue Care and EMRS.
