One killed in Edwin Swales Drive concrete bridge crash

The driver was travelling on Edwin Swales Drive when his car crashed into a concrete bridge before South Coast Road.

A MAN died in a serious crash on Edwin Swales Drive after being ejected from his car near a concrete bridge before South Coast Road this afternoon.

According to a report from paramedics at the scene, the man lost control of his vehicle before it crashed into the bridge.

Spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Garrith Jamieson confirmed that emergency teams responded to the scene, but found the driver to have sustained critical injuries.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that a single vehicle had somehow lost control and crashed into a concrete bridge. The driver, apparently the only occupant of the vehicle, was found, having been ejected from the vehicle.

“Paramedics assessed the man believed to be in his 30s, however he had sustained major injuries and there was nothing paramedics could do for him. He was declared deceased on the scene,” said Jamieson.
