Police probe death of Mobeni trucking company manager

The police have not made arrests yet. The trucking company and the deceased’s family have declined to comment.

THE brutal murder of a trucking company manager near the Clairwood Hospital remains under police investigation with no arrests made to date.

Kovilan Padayachee was shot dead at the company’s premises shortly after his arrival on October 10.

He had just exited from his car when an unidentified man approached, opened fire, and fled the scene on foot. Distraught family members and employees remained visibly shaken following the incident.

Police spokesperson in Montclair, Captain Cherly Pillay, confirmed that a case of murder is being investigated.

“While walking into the company, he was approached by an assailant who shot him several times, which led to his demise. Montclair police were in attendance. At this stage, the motive is unknown. Montclair police are investigating a case of murder,” said Pillay.

When the Southlands Sun tried to reach out to the family, a man identifying himself as the deceased’s brother declined to comment. The Sun also reached out to South African Inland Logistics, but the company likewise refused to comment.
