Family trio appears in court for drug dealing

The three individuals, mother, son and daughter-in-law, were arrested at their home in Merebank during a police joint operation.

THREE family members appeared at the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court on March 5 for dealing in drugs. Bevin Kyle Maistry, 28, Amanda Denise Maistry, 47, and Kristen Wymane, 29, were arrested at their home in Merebank during a joint police operation on March 4.

Police sources told Southlands Sun that members of the Metro Police Street Crime Unit and Wentworth Crime Prevention received numerous complaints from the public regarding a house that was allegedly selling drugs.

Acting on the information received, the police proceeded to the place where the three accused were found in possession of suspected rock cocaine and heroin.

It is alleged that on the day of the arrest, the police found six people at the dwelling behind the main house.

“It is suspected that these individuals were smoking drugs, but when the police confronted them they managed to hide the drugs. They were not arrested as there was no sufficient evidence to effect an arrest. However, the members of the public who alerted the police complained about people consuming drugs at the property,” a source said.
