Patrollers promises more boots on the ground this festive season

Montclair patrollers will intensify their foot patrols this festive season to enhance safety and security in the Montclair policing precinct.

WITH the festive season fast approaching, the members of the Yellowwood Park Woodhaven Patrollers CPF group have vowed to intensify their patrols in the Montclair policing precinct.

The aim of the patrols is to curb the increasing criminal activities in the area. For the past two weeks, the area of Yellowwood Park has seen a rapid increase in the theft of water meters.

Chairperson of the Montclair Community Police Forum (CPF) Rave Naidoo said patrollers will be conducting foot patrols to enhance safety and security.

“Montclair was targeted during the week, and there were about eight meters that were stolen in Yellowwood Park, as well. However, our patrollers have a plan in place to get patrols stepped up during this busy period. The Montclair Police will get involved, as well, as they will be stepping up patrols in the affected areas,” said Naidoo.

A call to strengthen existing security measures came after frustrated residents vented their anger on social media chat groups, such as the Montclair Crime Eye group where residents complained about increasing theft of water meters.

Naidoo appealed to the members of the public to join street patrol groups as this helps increase the number of volunteers.

Residents interested in joining crime-fighting structures in the community can call Montclair CPF chairman Rave Naidoo on 084 461 4732.
