The second annual Wentworth Arts and Culture Organisation’s youth festival is slated to be bigger than before.

With the theme “Celebrating youth, community and culture through sports and the arts”, the festival guarantees a lively display of youthful talent, action and cultural pride. Jarryd Watson, artistic director of the organisation, said the full programme caters to all ages and said Waco welcomes families, youth groups and community leaders to join hands in a celebration of unity and empowerment.
Funds raised from the event will go towards Wentworth dancers going to compete at the world championships.
Programme:
- Soccer tournament: A 5-a-side tournament will feature junior teams competing in the age groups of U7, U8, U9, U12 and U13. There will be trophies, medals and cash prizes to be won. Players, coaches and group leaders can play for free.
- Touch rugby: Beginning bright and early, the rugby matches promise action-packed fun and friendly competition.
- Dance competition: This show has been programmed by Waco’s renowned Dance Movement studio with a competition among dance crews and solo artists, battling it out to come out on top.
- Stance car display competition: Car enthusiasts will love the stance car display competition that will award the best interior, best boot space and best exterior.
- Youth dialogue sessions: These sessions offer a strong platform for youth voices to raise their concerns on matters most important to them, social issues, aspirations, leadership and making change in their communities.
