Help Merebank family reunite with deaf pit bull Roxy

Roxy was one of two dogs which went missing from the Naidoo family’s home on September 27, but one dog has since returned home.

A MEREBANK family is frantically searching for their beloved white female pit bull, Roxy, who has been missing from their home in Amritsar Place, Merebank, since September 27.

Two of the Naidoo family’s animals went missing that day, but while their male dog Bruno has since been found and returned home safely, Roxy is still missing, and the family are refusing to lose hope.

Dineshan Trevoleen Naidoo, a family member, said Roxy is not your typical dog. She was born deaf, but her disability never bested her.

“Her deafness has never stopped her from enjoying the pleasures of life. She’s the most affectionate, sweet baby and has no mean bones in her body at all,” said a worried Naidoo.

Since Roxy disappeared, the family has been working day and night looking around the neighbourhood. “We drive twice a day, street by street, hoping to spot her. Whenever we get a message or call that someone has spotted her, we rush out, only to return home empty-handed and disappointed,” said a devastated Naidoo.

As days pass, the family fear that someone might have taken Roxy in.

“If anyone has her, you should know that she is sterilised, she can’t be bred from. She is extremely friendly and if anyone is thinking of using her for dog fighting, I beg you not to put her through that horrific death,” pleaded Naidoo.

The recent bad weather conditions added to the family’s worry as Roxy could be cold, hungry or lost.

“She is not just a dog to us, she’s family. Please, if you’ve seen her, or have picked her up assuming that she is a stray, contact me. I will bring her home. I know within my heart she’s out there trying to make her way back home or needs help to do so,” said Naidoo.

The family urges anyone who has information about Roxy’s location to contact Naidoo on 067 080 2293.
