Rainy, cold weather didn’t dampen play at Wentworth Bowling Club

This month the Big Jim competition will be a Halloween special, drawn to accommodate all those wishing to get a game, and will be followed by karaoke.

WITH inclement weather making life extremely difficult for the Wentworth Bowling Club competition, secretaries and members have soldiered on and played each day offering clear skies.

The competitions in which club champions were declared, included the Men’s Senior Singles which was won in a humdinger match by one of the club’s seasoned bowlers, Ben Newton. Novice bowler, Gees Dennis, proved to be a worthy opponent and took the game to the wire, demonstrating his potential as a promising bowler.

The women’s points singles title was claimed by in form Dawn Spack in a close game against Amelia Booysen – another novice with a promising bowling future.

Father and son combination of Kevin and Brad Claassens played an exceptional last end in the Men’s Drawn Pairs final against Simon Garland and Barry Smith to claim the title for 2021.

Friday’s Tomasina’s Men’s Casual Bowls proved to be a successful morning for Dave Lloyd, Greg Ferns and Gavin Conlon who ended play with a plus 11, two shots ahead of second-placed Graham Bransby, Maurice Faulkener and Gary Lelong. Nico Heymans, Doug Nicol and Raj Pillay left with the sportsmen’s prize and Graham Bransby walked off with a healthy sized topside roast.

Errol Pienaar, Mike Hough, Tomcat Cavanagh and Robin de Gouveia all benefited from the two 60/40 board draws.
