The Eldorado Park Police Station’s communication officer, Fezeka Khobo, said the police officers requested permission to conduct a search, which was granted.
The truck driver was then asked about his cargo, to which he replied that it consisted of old scrap metal.
“The officers then took it upon themselves to search and inspect the truck, and found a large sack of copper cables underneath scrap metals and car rims.
“When asked to produce the certificate of second-hand goods, scrap metals dealer license and/ or documentation that permits him to transport or be in possession of copper cables, he failed to produce any of the documents,” said Khobo.
